“The performance of Music University is nil”, PanditRajeev Taranath

Renowned Sarod Player Pandit Rajeev Taranath expressed his displeasure over the poor performance of Dr Gangubai Hangal Music and Performing Arts University.

He blamed former Vice Chancellor of the Music Varsity (Hanumanna Nayak Dore) of non performance and said the university has not faired better under his guidance.
He was speaking after the inaugurating of birth centenary celebrations of Dr Gangubai Hangal at the music varsity premises here on Wednesday.
The performance of Music University in the last five years is rubbish. Though this place was enough to nurture music and host music fests, no activities has taken place over the years. The development of university is nil and the grants of government has went back,” he regretted.

Its shameful even after five years no lecturers have been appointed for Carnatak Hindusani Section. The guest lecturers are paid for pocket money. A university should have self-esteem and profoundness and its high time we should work to preserve the dignity of the University,” he added.

Theft is done very systematically and honestly. Money has been looted in university producing fresh bill for purchased old musical instruments and computers," he alleged.
"The former VC of Music varsity was practicing music with me and he don't know to sing. Recently former Registrar M Basavanna had meet me seeking suggestion for betterment of University. I asked him to first clean the five years dirt and later think of improvising university.”

I felt extreme happy when government established music varsity in Mysore. It was short-lived because it was run by vested interests,” he pointed out.
Instead of organising a stage programme, it would had been more appropriate a music programme was conducted to mark the centenary celebrations, he suggested newly appointed VC Prof YS Siddegowda on the occasion.
